It goes without saying that the Feldberger Hof would neither be as successful nor what it is today without the Banhardt family. Since buying the hotel, the family has continually invested in improving the offers and comfort at the Feldberger Hof. Annual investments in the upper 100,000 euros region are no longer the exception!

How did it come to the hotel in the Black Forest being taken over? And where do all the ideas for new attractions in and around the hotel come from? The Banhardt family answers all these questions in a brief interview.

Thomas Banhardt

After his apprenticeship as a chef in the beautiful Allgäu region of Germany, Thomas was drawn to the big, wide world, spending more than 20 years in Switzerland, Scandinavia, Asia, Africa and America, among other places. In America he spent the longest time during his career abroad and was responsible for 7 years as Corporate Executive Chef for the entire Norwegian Cruiseline company and thus for the entire food division with over 1000 employees. Mr. Banhardt crowned his remarkable career from chef to Corporate-Executive-Chef of a global company with the qualification as a master chef.

In 1993, he acquired the Hotel Feldberger Hof, breathed new life into the hotel and awakened it from its long slumber! Since the takeover of the hotel by Thomas, the turnover increased until today by about 20 times and records a sensational occupancy rate of over 90% throughout the year, which very few hotels worldwide can claim!

Nathalie Banhardt

After a year abroad in Singapore and Sydney, Nathalie Bahnhardt completed an apprenticeship as a hotel clerk. After her training, she began studying for a Bachelor of Science in "Business Psychology" with two specializations: Market and Advertising Psychology as well as Organizational, Personnel and Industrial Psychology. She then gained professional experience in various departments such as purchasing, sales and accounting, as well as in CRM and social media marketing, for example at HolidayCheck.

In 2021, she additionally completed a Master of Science in Business Psychology, Leadership and Management. Since then, Nathalie has been responsible for the hotel's overall organizational and strategic business planning, marketing, human resources and finance. In addition, Nathalie is also involved outside of the Feldberger Hof, including in the Familotel HR Group and the Wirtschaftsjunioren Freiburg.

Sebastian Banhardt

Sebastian Banhardt completed his training as a hotel specialist at the Superior Wellness Hotel Erfurths Bergfried in Hinterzarten. He then gained professional experience in the food & beverage sector at numerous luxury and top hotels, including the Luxury Spa Retreat & Cultural Hideaway "Schloss Elmau".  Before graduating in hotel management from the renowned Hotel Management School in Heidelberg, Sebastian completed a stay abroad in Miami, USA.

He then managed the Rothaus Chalet at Feldberg and achieved the highest seasonal turnover since its inception. Since the summer of 2020, Sebastian has been responsible for the management of the Feldberger Hof and has since been in charge of the operational organization, purchasing and the complete food & beverage area. Sebastian also manages the most personnel-intensive departments of the hotel.

Ludwig Ersoy

Ludwig began his career at the Steigenberger Kurhaus-Hotel in Bad Kissingen, where he trained as a hotel manager. During his 20-year tenure at a total of 20 Robinson Clubs in various countries, he underwent F&B training during this time and worked as F&B manager for a total of 9 years. Finally, Ludwig completed his hotel management studies and took off as General Hotel Manager.

After very many years abroad, he decided to return to Germany and has been working as Hotel Manager at Hotel Feldberger Hof since September 2022, which he enjoys incredibly much as he can fully live out his professional talents and is given plenty of room for creativity. Ludwig on working at Feldberger Hof: "I am a passionate host and my standards for hospitality, service, guest and employee satisfaction, communication and team spirit are very high. At the Hotel Feldberger Hof, it's not just me who meets these standards, but our entire team, which makes me very proud and which our guests really appreciate."
